European Quantum Zone Showcases Quantum Innovations at MWC2

Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC24) once again hosted The European Quantum Zone, curated by ICFO in Hall 6 – Stand 6A8. The zone showcased the latest achievements and advancements in quantum technologies, particularly quantum communications, aligning with the interests of the mobile audience in cybersecurity, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, finance, healthcare, and secure communications, among others.

EuroQCI Spain, along with other European initiatives like Quantum Internet Alliance (QIA), Quantum Secure Network Partnership (QSNP), Quantum Valley Lower Saxony (QVLS), QuKomin, and Plan Complementario de Comunicaciones Cuánticas, were part of the European Quantum Zone. The consortium shared a stand with these initiatives.

This year’s stand featured a dedicated Quantum Technologies (QT) corner, hosting informal “quantum coffee talks.” Moreover, these engaging sessions offered MWC visitors valuable insights into the current state and rapid progress of quantum technologies. In particular, the talks focused on ongoing European projects that are poised to transform the telecommunications sector, thus providing a glimpse into the future of secure and efficient communication.

Dr. Ignacio Lopez, researcher at ICFO and consortium member, was invited to speak and provided an overview of EuroQCI Spain. To begin, he explained the technology under development. Additionally, he discussed the market needs. Furthermore, he detailed the solutions this technology offers in terms of quantum cryptography for secure communications.
